Arnarstapi, Iceland, 2023
Some horses command attention, not just with their beauty but with an aura that is impossible to ignore. This one has it. Like David Bowie or Andy Warhol, he carries an effortless charisma, something rare, something unforgettable.
Among the countless horses I’ve photographed in Iceland, he stands alone. He was more than a subject—he was my companion. Each time I arrived in Arnarstapi, a place of raw, untamed beauty, he was there, waiting. The leader of his herd, full of presence and quiet authority.
During my second stay in Iceland, our bond deepened. Sixty days spent in the vastness of this landscape, returning to him almost daily, capturing his strength, his elegance, his knowing gaze. When I left, I missed him like an old friend. I still think about him often, knowing exactly where he roams, waiting for the day I return.
